man is a giddy thing

just a twenty year old girl who suffers from foot in mouth syndrome. i can get quite cranky when i'm hungry. i have a fondness for cozy cardigans, scarves, and high waisted shorts. i like romantic comedies unironically and i think folk music is pretty rad. i idolize writers. any kind. i drink a fair amount of tea and consume an even fairer amount of television. trying to write one of those book things. still waiting for my life to become a musical. oh and my name's shannon.

"Don’t take a nude pic if you’re a famous woman and don’t want it leaked."

"Don’t wear a hoodie if you don’t want to be mistaken for a criminal and shot."

"Don’t get drunk at a party if you don’t want to be sexually assaulted."

"Don’t argue with a cop if you don’t want to get killed."

"Don’t walk home by yourself if you don’t want to get raped."

So when people leave, I’ve learned the secret: let them. Because, most of the time, they have to.

Let them walk away and go places. Let them have adventures in the wild without you. Let them travel the world and explore life beyond a horizon that you exist in. And know, deep down, that heroes aren’t qualified by their capacity to stay but by their decision to return.
